Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Advertises for Trainee Diplomatic Attachés

Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry said on August 31 that it is preparing to recruit intern attachés, with the aim of attracting more young people to the country's diplomatic service.

The ministry hopes to bring young people on board who one day would further Bulgaria's interests as ambassadors or as Foreign Ministry officials in Sofia.

"The Bulgarian diplomatic service needs rejuvenation. In addition to competitions for apprentice interns, we are also considering a faster career growth for young diplomats," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said.

The competition will be held by the end of 2017.


Zaharieva said that a trainee attaché would be assigned to delegations that come to Bulgaria for the events during the country's presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2018.

"There are also many young people in our Brussels office. The idea is to keep them after the Presidency," Zaharieva said.

In all, 15 young people will be employed by the ministry as trainee attachés.

Candidates who speak languages ​​such as Albanian, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Romanian, Russian, Scandinavian, Turkish, Farsi, Hindi, Dutch and Japanese will have an advantage.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced Finance and Administration Officer to join our Finance and Administration team to ensure the smooth and efficient management of the financial and administration systems.
The Finance and Administration Officer will support the Finance Manager and other team members in operating a strong financial control environment in the Saferworld Kampala office, including maintaining comprehensive and accurate financial records and other bookkeeping and banking tasks. The post-holder will also provide logistical and administrative support to the programme activities of the Saferworld Kampala office as required.
